ORGAN UPDATE: Out with the old and in with the new!

As you can see, our new console has arrived and is sitting in the front of the church for everyone to see. There will soon be activity on the right side of the choir loft installing the six new wind chests and the 1,000 plus very valuable, refurbished pipes made by Hooke and Hastings in the late 1880’s.
Look in the July/August Cross Currents for more information about the organ.

Please contact Lynn McGhee with any questions (540-312-4324).

“THE I’S HAVE IT” FOR SUMMER GIVING:

This summer we are offering you the opportunity to contribute to
“The I’s Have It” mission’s appeals project. The “I’s” will include you when you are interested, involved, invested, and intertwined in God’s love with our two International hospital projects. You can provide critically needed funds to the Presbyterian hospital in Embangweni, Malawi and to the Santa Fe de Cristo hospital in Chocola, Guatemala serving over 150,000 people. With faith, hope, and prayer, our goal for this project is to provide $20,000 to be equally divided between Malawi and Guatemala so that each area has sustainable healthcare available. Please make your donations payable to Covenant Presbyterian Church, with the memo line noted as Summer Mission Hospital Fund 2017.
“But generous people plan to do what is generous, and they stand firm in their generosity.” – Isaiah 32:8.

BELLS, BELLS, BELLS! Our Adult Bell Choir is in need of one new member.

Practice will resume in the fall, on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM – 7:15 PM.
If you can read music and would like to join us, please contact Richard Rudolph (321-4411 or Quest.Academy@cox.net).

CHURCH SAFETY:

The front doors will be kept locked when there is no volunteer in Heritage Hall. If you find the front doors locked during regular office hours, please ring the bell on the right wall so we can let you in!

TIME FOR CENTERING PRAYER

What is Centering Prayer? Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to experience God’s presence within us. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer. Rather, it adds a depth of meaning to all other ways of praying. Centering Prayer emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God and as a movement beyond conversation with Christ to a deeper, and peaceful communion with Him. A group for Centering Prayer meets every Wednesday afternoon, from 4:00 – 5:00 PM, and every Thursday evening, from 6:30 – 7:30 PM, in the Red Room. If you are interested in participating or have questions, please contact Judi Barnes.

INCLEMENT WEATHER:

Weather-related cancellations for church services and activities will be posted on television stations WDBJ7 and WSLS10, and listed on our church website and social media.
